Syrian Hospitality & Foods are very close to Persian

Syrian Hospitality & Foods are very close to Persian

That was awesome day, When My friend who is the mother of my Son’s school mate ,invited us for ” after school ” time with kids at her house. It was my first time with a Syrian family and didn’t expect she is preparing lunch. (Since I pick up my son to home after school, we have very light afternoon snack and don’t eat a lot for any daily meals). But she reminds me my family in Persia where they are famous of warm Conversation & hospitality with traditional meals varieties. MAYS served a big table lunch: I thought we have maybe 8-10 guests, but it was all for 3 adults and 2 kids 🙂 !!! Maybe I can’t spell the right name and pronunciations. Some Arabic starters what I know was there: Tabullah( Like salad mixed fresh chopped parsley+onion+bulgur+mint+tomato+ olive oil+salt & lemon juice), Sheik Mahshi ( Filled cooked eggplant or zucchini with minced meat+onion+rice+tomato+mixed chopped vegetables+…), Hummus (Cooked mashed chickpeas+tahini+lemon juice+olive oil+salt+garlic) , Hushwee ( is cooked rice mixed with minced meat+ toasted cashew and with or without thin noodles), That filled eggplants I don’t remember the name( Makdoos??!!), Fattoush and many many more of different Spring rolls, salads and drinks. OMG! I just had a little of every thing and got a stomachache. But The food was fantastic. We has a friendly chat, talking about home land and family, talked about common words, stuff and culture between Syria and Persia.I love change and I love to try new meals specially traditional ones. That was all there for me I couldn’t finish at all. So, she gave me the rest to take them home !!! Such an amazing lady and great culture and hospitality. I found these recipes very similar to other Arabic countries recipes. It doesn’t matter. Just that all memorable day will stick in my mind forever. Thank you Mays, Abdelkareem and beautiful Jodi
